Meet Jeff Cordick

Senior Contract Administrator | Calgary Studio

Who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

From the time I was young, I have always been around some sort of building projects, whether it be at home or visiting family, who had projects going on which seemed like it was never ending. I was always able to help in some fashion on these projects and it just stuck with me as I grew up. Today, no project is too small or too large, both personally or professionally and I am excited for the challenge to see them through to completion.

What is your favourite part of working at METAFOR?

I would have to say it is the friendly staff environment, the culture, and the collective interaction that make projects fun and interesting. I also like the multitude of talented people I work with and the expertise that is openly shared and welcomed throughout the studio.

What is your favorite project that you have worked on or that you are proud that METAFOR was a part of? Why?

There isn’t just one single project that stands out to me, however, the variety and complexity of projects is the reason I joined METAFOR, especially all the rustic heavy timber projects that we are known for today in the mountain settings.

Which of our Core Values resonates with you the most and why?

I think the one that resonates with me the most is “Purposeful”. I have always believed that there is a purpose for everything that happens in life — “good or bad”, the journey of lifelong learning is the basis of all your experiences for the rest of your life.

What inspires you in life? What are you passionate about?

I have to say my get up and go mentality has always been about working hard and providing for my family in any way it takes. It is always easy when you have always loved what you do for a living, and I can say I have to date no reservations regarding the career I have chosen.

What hobbies, activities, or passions bring you joy outside of the office?

I have always enjoyed travelling, water activities, and golf. I always try to spend as much time as I can with my family outside of work. As a watch (timepiece) enthusiast, I have an amazing collection, I also have a tropical fish aquarium at home that reminds me of our annual vacations every winter to the tropics.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

My favorite vacation spot is Oahu, Hawaii. For the last 20 years we go every year and stay for a month. Its our home away from home — a beautiful and relaxing getaway required for a hectic life.

Tell me something about you that most people don't know.

I was an active member of the Air Cadets for two years when I was 14, and I was a co-pilot on an air glider for a 30-minute flight out by the Springbank Airport — a once in a lifetime experience, so exhilarating.
