Makarena Alvarez is a Senior Interior Designer with more than 13 years of experience creating thoughtful and engaging environments across the hospitality, workplace, wellness, retail, and multi-family sectors. She brings a collaborative and guest-focused approach to every project, guiding clients and project teams through all phases of the design process, from early visioning to construction. Her portfolio includes award-winning restaurants, spas, retail spaces, and commercial workplaces throughout Western Canada.

Inspired by Calgary’s vibrant restaurant scene, Makarena is passionate about creating hospitality-driven spaces that foster connection and leave a lasting impression. She believes the most compelling interiors are rooted in a clear narrative, brought to life through intentional design decisions and thoughtfully layered details.

Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the mountains, rock climbing, cycling, camping, and spending time with her Aussie Retriever, Arlo.
