Join us in also celebrating Kevin's 23rd work anniversary with METAFOR, a huge milestone! As the second longest-standing employee at the firm, Kevin has seen many iterations of the studio and has proven to be an invaluable asset to the firm.
Who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I've been passionate about architecture from the very beginning, which is why I embarked on my career journey with a degree in architecture. However, what truly inspired and shaped my current career path was the fusion of my architectural background with a deep-seated fascination for technology.
My journey has been a continuous exploration of cutting-edge design tools, virtual reality, and the technologies that enable us to deliver architectural projects with unparalleled efficiency. The evolution of my career has been a natural progression, moving from a focus on creative design solutions to a role that revolves around creative problem-solving for end-users.
In essence, it's the endless possibilities that technology brings to architecture that have inspired and continue to drive me in my career. The ability to transform architectural visions into immersive, user-centric experiences has been my guiding star, and it's the ever-present pursuit of this goal that motivates me to excel in my career.
What is your favourite part of working at METAFOR?
My favorite part of working at METAFOR is the unique blend of creativity and problem-solving that it offers. Every day presents a new and exciting challenge, pushing me to think creatively. Additionally, the collaborative nature of our work is something I truly appreciate. Working closely with my talented colleagues fosters a dynamic environment where I learn and grow both professionally and personally. The combination of creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration makes working at METAFOR an inspiring and rewarding experience for me.
What is your favorite project that you have worked on or that you are proud that METAFOR was a part of? Why?
My favourite project that I’ve worked on is our Calgary studio. I'm very proud of the integration of technology and automation in our studio and how those technologies contribute to our great working environment.
Which of our Core Values resonates with you the most and why?
Purposeful - Work-life harmony and the ability to balance my time between my professional responsibilities and spending quality moments with my family and friends are at the core of what gives life its true meaning. I hold a deep commitment to both my professional and personal roles, and I genuinely believe that being a trusted leader means doing work that not only matters but also enriches the lives of those it serves. It's about finding purpose in every aspect of life, and this belief is what fuels my dedication to make every moment count.
What inspires you in life? What are you passionate about?
My wife and children are a constant source of strength and joy for me. They inspire and motivate me to perform at my best, both at work and in my personal life.
What hobbies, activities, or passions bring you joy outside of the office?
Snowboarding, hockey, golf, camping, mountain biking, cooking Mexican food, smart home technology, music, scuba diving, hot sauce, designing and renovating our home.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Tahiti, island of Bora Bora – For its beautiful beaches, and incredible snorkeling and scuba diving. Unique culture and family friendly atmosphere.
Tell me something about you that most people don't know.
I’m an enthusiastic thrill seeker with experience in skydiving, bungee jumping, and I proudly hold a certification as a scuba diver.
