Meet Nashrah Noor

Project Architect | Calgary Studio

Who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

As a little kid, I watched our parents build our childhood home working with an architect. I was very intrigued with the blueprints laying around at home and the design processes they had with the architect. I started noticing buildings with a more curious mind. In second grade, I visited the Taj Mahal with my parents and distinctly remember the emotions and awe I felt experiencing a beautifully designed space for the first time. I have wanted to be an architect since then. Art and sciences were my favorite subjects in school. Architecture was a perfect combination of both. It was a no brainer for me to pursue this career in college.

What is your favourite part of working at METAFOR?

Everyone is very passionate about the work they do. It is great to work among colleagues who are talented in their unique ways and always ready share their knowledge.

What is your favorite project that you have worked on or that you are proud that METAFOR was a part of? Why?

I am proud to see so many projects by METAFOR shaping the mountain architecture along Bow Valley. I am excited to be working on projects in the region at METAFOR.

Which of our Core Values resonates with you the most and why?

“We are intentionally curious” resonates with me the most as I believe there is always room to learn something new even if we become experts. I am always seeking to expand my knowledge in the various disciplines within building constructions and my career thus far, has reflected that.

What inspires you in life? What are you passionate about?

My family inspires me to keep growing and be the best version of my self everyday.

What hobbies, activities, or passions bring you joy outside of the office?

I love to travel and experience different cultures. I enjoy experimenting with food and take inspiration from different cuisines. Lately, I have been enjoying spending time with my toddler as a first-time mom. We love making art together.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I would go on a backpacking trip across Europe to visit notable works of architecture. It has been on my bucket list since I missed out on going with my class in college.

Tell me something about you that most people don't know.

I lived in seven cities across three countries.
