The Cougar Street residential development was an opportunity to create affordable housing options for individuals and families residing within the Banff Townsite.
Project Details
The project consists of 36 compact rental units, with a mix of one, two, and three bedroom units.
The unit layouts aimed to provide efficient use of space, as well as efficient and compact structural and mechanical systems. Maintaining high efficiency within the design, allowed for a greater unit count, enabling the project to provide more people with affordable housing options in Banff.

The development features below-grade parking, gear storage for each unit, and a central gathering amenity space at grade.
In response to the building’s context and the location within Banff National Park, the project emphasizes the use of year round outdoor space, encouraging connection and community among the residents and surrounding nature beyond it.
