Project Details

Voyager Inn, constructed in 1964, was Banff’s first commercial motor hotel. Canalta
Land Services partnered with Marriott Hotels International to rebrand this historic
property under Marriott’s vibrant “MOXY” brand. MOXY is a boutique-hotel concept
designed for the next-generation traveler—fresh, innovative, and fun—delivering a
unique and enjoyable guest experience at an affordable price. The brand’s adaptability
to each unique location made it the perfect fit for reimagining the Voyager Inn.

Our team undertook a complete renovation of this 1960s-era international-style hotel,
implementing extensive upgrades throughout. These included significant life safety
enhancements, the reconfiguration of existing guestrooms, and the addition of new
rooms, increasing the total from 88 to 109.

MOXY Banff was thoughtfully designed to draw inspiration from the building’s original architectural style, the stunning Rocky Mountain setting, and the lifestyle and culture of Banff’s residents and visitors. On the rooftop, METAFOR designed a dynamic space that included the replacement of the central core’s roof. This area was transformed into a vibrant social hub, featuring a pool, fireplaces, and other amenities, all of which embody the spirit and culture of Banff’s community.
