In Phase 2 of this project, METAFOR was responsible for converting the old RCMP and Fire Hall building into a mixed-use facility with both community civic spaces and graphic and performing arts spaces in order to better serve the needs for the growing community of Hinton.
Project Details
The project included converting an RCMP detachment and part of the Fire Hall facility into The Guild, which is a multi-use community facility with FCSS, and a visual arts and pottery studio.
The METAFOR team was responsible for converting the Fire Hall wing of the building into the new performing arts theater. This included a full mechanical and electrical upgrade, addition of a new reception lobby and washrooms, full interior conversion of the apparatus bay to a 170-seat theatre with elevated stage, a sound booth, and a new back of stage addition for loading and a workshop.

This project involved preparation of a functional programme, community consultation, detailed design, contract administration, and project close out.
The project has been transformative for the Town and people of Hinton. The building helps support the Town's long and storied history through performance art, while concurrently providing an engaging and creative space for youth to learn, grow, and experience the arts for themselves.
