Located on a brownfield site, the building enhances the street experience by offering lively and inclusive spaces for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Village Block will provide a total of 57 residential units, including a mix of one, and two bedrooms with at least 20% being universally designed.

Village Block aims to encourage the use of a sustainability approach. These design considerations prioritize access to multi-modal transportation options, providing residents with convenient access to both community and major city-wide destinations.

Village Block prioritizes a diverse mix of both public and private amenities, giving residents the option to retreat onto their private balconies or to connect and engage with the broader community. Village Block employs a variety of passive and active sustainability strategies to reduce the carbon footprint and allow to be net zero ready. The south and west elevations are pulled away from the building’s façade to create private balconies that also provide solar shading. The brick walls act as a thermal sink, absorbing thermal energy during the day and slowly releasing it at night. The quality and durability of selected materials ensure a sustainable and long building life cycle.
