This project involved demolition, renovations, and upgrades to the basement level to Level 5 of the Hudson’s Bay building in downtown Calgary.
University of Calgary Downtown Campus
Architecturally, the building provides the University of Calgary with a branded presence within Calgary’s downtown, showcasing a unique retrofit of the pre-existing building envelope and program.
SAIT Athletic Park & Parkade
The three-level parkade consolidates the sprawled distribution of campus parking into a central facility, freeing up developable land and reinvigorating SAIT’s campus life.
Willow Square Continuing Care Centre
METAFOR completed Bridging Consultant services for this new 142-bed Continuing Care facility that was delivered through a fast-track Design Build contract.
The PATH (Performing Arts Theatre of Hinton)
In Phase 2 of this project, METAFOR was responsible for converting the old RCMP and Fire Hall building into a mixed-use facility with both community civic spaces and graphic and performing arts spaces in order to better serve the needs for the growing community of Hinton.

The design for the new Highlands Branch Library reflects Edmonton Public Library’s aspirations to create welcoming, inviting spaces that encourage community gathering, conversation, study, and learning.

This building showcases Calgary, and the Calgary Board of Education as a best-in-class educational institution in terms of resources and services for adolescents and young adults requiring specialized teaching and learning.
Adaptive Reuse for a Civic Catalyst
The development aims to foster continued growth and evolution in the area. By combining various uses and incorporating civic architecture, it seeks to revitalize the current neighborhood into a vibrant community destination and hub within Calgary.
